street drummer. roller coaster. rolling down the graffiti’d laneway on a beat up Creature board bought from Winnebago bums in Santa Cruz. art deco. dancing little girls. drum beats. boom heart beats inside his bony chest. little boys free flow break dancing. the st. kilda winds tear through my floral flannel shirt but i don’t care i’m gonna finish my root beer and i look kind of like a hipster these days but i don’t have any money or any friends in this town. he gives me his trackies to wear and a heart mug full of tea. his awkwardness betrays a beautiful body and bright blue eyes kept hidden in the shadows of a baseball cap. smart and sweet and weird and cool. rattle rattle go the street drums through my bones. freeze goes the breeze. overpass underpass. graffitti art. young ones. chocolate muffin. old victorian house. another hickey on my neck. Fear and Loathing book. soft bed. cold feet hot heart. room without a view. big bats flying in the sky. Palais theatre lights up all dayglo. waning moon. tropical birds with arched beaks sit on a wire cackling back and forth in psychedelic yellows and raging reds.
